Criminal Justice, Immigration, and Civil Rights Amidst Trump's ICE Crackdown
Wednesday, October 8, 2025 | 5:30 PM EDT - 7:00 PM EDT
This program will cover "front-page" issues confronting criminal, immigration, and civil rights lawyers arising from the current administration’s immigration initiatives. We will cover common immigration issues impacting criminal defendants, including detention, plea and sentencing issues; constitutional questions arising from the targeting, arrest and detention of non-citizen clients; the impact of criminal charges on prior immigration relief (such as asylum or convention against torture); and courthouse arrests and deportations, among others.
This program is co-sponsored by the C. Willard Heckel Inn of Court at Rutgers Law School. The Inn brings together highly experienced and distinguished justices, judges, trial attorneys, members of the bar, and Rutgers Law School students to enhance their skills and focus on important issues facing the bar and bench.
